- Michael Kruppe serves as the CEO of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), one of the world’s leading and most successful exhibition venues. Under his leadership, SNIEC welcomes more than seven million visitors and over 100,000 exhibitors annually. With a footprint of 300,000 m² and a consistent top global ranking, the venue is a major catalyst for international business exchange, innovation, and economic development in Shanghai.
With extensive global experience and a strong presence in China’s exhibition sector, Michael works closely with government leaders, multinational CEOs, and industry associations to advance Shanghai’s position as a premier international hub for exhibitions and high-tech industry collaboration. His expertise spans sectors such as semiconductors, telecommunications, AI robotics, electric vehicles, smart cities, environmental technologies, and healthcare.
Beyond his leadership at SNIEC, Michael Kruppe holds board positions with several influential global associations, including UFI, ICCA, AFECA, and the German Chamber of Commerce in China, where he plays an active role in shaping industry standards and promoting global cooperation. He also contributes significantly to China–Germany relations, fostering political, economic, and cultural exchange. As Hamburg’s ambassador in Shanghai, he helps strengthen crosscity ties and supports long-term bilateral initiatives.
